Type of Employment: Full time - Permanent Anticipated Start Date As soon as possible Job Duties: Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics Apply varnish, veneer, stain or polish to finished products Maintain a clean and safe work environment Operate woodworking machines and use hand tools to cut, shape and form parts and components Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials Construct furniture frameworks Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures Repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures and related products Requirements Education: No formal education is required. Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience is required. If the candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, then a post-secondary education certificate OR completion of a three-to four-year apprenticeship program is required. Work conditions and Physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Handling heavy loads, Large workload, Physically demanding, Tight deadlines Personal suitability: Accurate, Client focus, Efficient interpersonal skills, Judgement, Reliability, Team player, Values and ethics Work Site Environment: Confined spaces, Noisy, Dusty Work Setting: Workshop Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg. (50 lbs) Language: No minimum language requirements Salary: $28.67 hourly, 40 – 44 hours per week Benefits: Health insurance, Tools/equipment and work uniforms provided by the employer Important Information: Work schedule is from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, including a paid 45-minute lunch break. However, flexibility on schedule is required as some days will start earlier, and others finish later depending on the business needs. Overtime and work on weekends may be required.
