Business address: 299 Forin Rd, Gibsons, BC V0N 1V0 Work location: Various clients’ locations throughout the Mainland/Southwest Region. Type of Employment: Full Time - Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials Prepare tenders and quotations Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites Survey building locations and levels Instruct apprentices Supervise other workers Estimate costs and materials Operate CADD and other computer software systems Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments Requirements Education: Completion of secondary school is required. Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience is required. If the candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, then a post-secondary education certificate is required OR completion of a three-to four-year apprenticeship program will help to qualify. Work conditions and Physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Handling heavy loads, Large workload, Physically demanding, Tight deadlines, Work with minimal supervision, overtime required Personal suitability: Accurate, Client focus, Efficient interpersonal skills, Judgement, Reliability, Team player, Values and ethics, Punctuality. Work Site Environment: Dusty, Noisy, Outdoors. Ability to supervise up to 1 person Language: English is required. Salary: $30.00 hourly, 40 – 45 hours per week Benefits: Mileage paid Important Information: Flexibility on schedule is required. The employee will work from Monday to Friday from 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM.
