My name is Jim Hegman and I have some 30 years of mechanical design experience in a variety of industries. I have worked in the automotive, medical products, aeronautical, food processing & packaging and oil & gas industries. I also have an extensive wood shop where I prefer to spend my time. My Father was an extraordinary woodworker. Every piece he turned out was functionality as an art form, or sometimes just plain art. Really an amazing guy. He was a college teacher in the industrial arts and we always had access to his basement shop and more importantly, his skillset and approach to each project. Most of the tools in my shop were inherited from him and I have used some of them my entire life. I am not in the same league as he was, but I have been told that my work is as recognizable as his. A high compliment to be sure. I am interested in undertaking original projects or detailed repair work. I will do some home repair, but I am not interested in "handyman" type jobs, or production jobs for that matter. I will build an Adirondack chair, but I won't build a dozen of them.
